That means that on top of the $999 price tag of the Index, you’ll need a $1,200-$2,000 gaming rig to run it properly. Without a powerful machine and GPU to push an HD VR rendered image at 144 Hz, the Index isn’t much of a powerhouse. The Valve Index is purely a gaming PC peripheral.
